I could not find much info on this doll or anything like her, but in the Ideal book, apparently these dolls were made by Ideal for other doll companies to sell. In the book it says that they did make a 27" doll that was all compo in the 20s. The original shipping box shows the Ideal & Novelty Toy Co. on label (see photo). However, there are no markings on the doll. The company changed their name in 1930s to just Ideal Toy Co, so it is before that time. This doll was purchased from an estate and she was stored away all these years. Her head is a shoulder plate type with a soft body and looks to have a crier that no longer works. The limbs, and head are compo. The head is in pretty nice shape with a few cracks, but nothing that stands out. Some behind ears but not shedding. She is missing her lashes. Her hair is original and in its original style, which appears to be the 20s to me. Also, I believe her clothes and hair bows are original. There is a tear down the front of the dress, but could be fixed. I have hand washed the dress and the undersuit. Under the dress is a one piece shorts type. I have added a pair of antique baby shoes that are a little big on her, but they look great with her old outfit. The legs show quite a bit of loss of compo, as you can see and the socks are pretty much hiding it, but the broken compo is getting caught on the socks, so I didn't want to take them all the way off for fear of snagging, so just know that they are cracking/chipping, etc. and will need restoration if you want her perfect. The arms are not as bad, but there is some flaking, and a little chipping and a missing finger. This doll is a very pretty, and large piece that displays well, but not for a mint doll collector. The box has some taping and box top missing and end. The mailing box also shows wear and tear and aging. For an almost 100 year old doll, she's in pretty good shape and probably stored most of her years. Please be sure to look at all the many photos I have taken. This doll is being sold as is and not returnable because of the size and cost of shipping. The doll in her boxes weighs over 7 pounds.
