    Description

    Sister Lucina Hubing was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, and resided in Milwaukee at the religious Orders headquarters on South 27th St.  Her artistic skills were well noted, and her specialty in enamels obvious, as in this transparent enameled cloisonne plaque representing the Last Supper.  Her work is scarce and rarely is found for sale.  A collection of her enamels remains with the Order in Milwaukee. The plaque is mounted on its original wood board.  She did not sign her work, but this has been authenticated to by by her hand.  The transparent enamels have some craquellure as you see in the photos, thin hairlines here and there, but the beauty of the work remains.  The plaque measures 8" x 3" on wood that is 11" x 4 1/2".
